As I said yesterday, you are spending way too much time on the computer. Get up and get outside.

It's dangerous out there. Acorns are falling. People are texting and driving. There are bears in the woods. Ticks carry disease. Actually, I'll be driving for over four hours today, so lots of time away from the computer.

The South still has the unhealthiest people in the U.S. Obesity and diabetes are rampant. Mississippi leads the way.

We have visited New Orleans many times for meetings. The city has terrible health stats. If you ask for a vegetable at dinner, you get deep-fried broccoli.

Some of us like side dishes with our deep fried Bermuda onion. At least, the crawfish are steamed.

Too much chicken-fried steak with cream gravy!

The northern states have always hated the South because of food. In the South food is plentiful because of the rich soil and long growing seasons. In the north farms are much smaller and they are still pulling rocks out of soil that has been farmed for 200 years.

I'm not sure that deep frying everything is related to soil quality. But it sure is tasty.

Isn't "deep fried" a tradition in the south?

I can attest to the rocks. Here in the Catskills, we seem to grow rocks. You cannot put a shovel in the ground without hitting a rock, and it could be 3' in diameter. I feel sorry for fence installers. It took me about two weeks to make a wooden foundation for a storage shed. I had to use a shovel, a sledge hammer, and large pruning shears for the roots.
