How "smoking" can ruin your photos...

Imagine the beauty of Bighorn Canyon... Yes, you have to use your imagination, because smoke from forest fires really ruined a great photo-op.

My wife and I have been travelling for 4 months now in our RV and have logged about 20,000 miles and over 10,000 photos each. We have gone from Toronto to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territory in Canada; to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska (and took dips into the Arctic Ocean in both places); visited Waterton-Glacier National Park; caught the total eclipse near Idaho Falls, ID; Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks; Devils Monument; Mount Rushmore; Crazy Horse Memorial; and many more places.

Yes, I do have some very nice photos -- tooooooo maaannnnyyyy to post -- but I just wanted to point out how fire can ruin a vacation. Yes, I know some are started by lightning, they are natural occurrences and actually revitalize the terrain, etc, etc; but some are also the result of human carelessness... and I would love to kick the butt of the person responsible for RUINING MY PHOTOS!!! This is but one of many photo-ops obscured by smoke on this trip.

Bighorn Canyon... smoked out!!!

I'm with you! We just returned from two weeks in Colorado and the smoke really ruined the photos. The area is so beautiful and the pictures just don't do justice to the beauty.

I agree. I've postponed a trip to northern Az. for about 4 weeks now. I'm waiting for the smoke from a couple of large fires to dissipate. Perhaps this weekend.

Sorry to hear that. Crater Lake a couple of weeks ago was no better.
