Yes. The Simon Pearce store was a really nice lunch, and the glass blowing is interesting. We also found some really good places to shop for antiques in the area
Sounds great! Might need more than a week it sounds like!

Go to Woodstock, VT. The Billings Farm and Vermont's only National Park are there (Marsh, Billings, Rockefeller NP). Many great photo opportunities. Cloudland Road is famous for photo sites and Cloudland Farm Restaurant is fabulous for Farm to Plate local dining.
That sounds like a must see! All you had to say was "many great photo opportunities".
Thanks!

You are going to one of my wife's and my favorite places. We take a trip to Vermont every other year - it is so quaint and easy to see. You did not say how long you are going for but we usually go for 8-10 days and split the state in half by staying in Burlington for 4-5 days and Manchester in the south part of state for 4-5 days. That way we can take day trips easily and see the entire state because there are so many wonderful little towns to see. Could not agree more with the recommendations you have gotten above. Shelburne Farms was awesome ( a lot to see there). Also, if you like bagels you have to try Myer's Montreal Bagels in Burlington not far from downtown. My wife and I love a GOOD bagel and these are the BEST i have ever had. It was recommended and we went every morning. Boiled in honey water and wood fired to finish - absolutely awesome!!
I would add Woodstock to the list and Bennington in the south part of Vermont. Since you are going in the fall make sure if you go to Bennington to go to the top of the monument - the views of fall foliage can be spectacular and take a camera up with you! As someone said, Simon Pierce in Queechee is a must. If you visit Manchester, the Hildene Estate (Lincoln Family Home) is worth the time. Again, take your camera.
My wife and I have been fortunate to have vacationed in all 50 states and Vermont is one of those we keep going back to. Enjoy!!

Now I am really getting excited. We went to Canada (Montreal and Quebec City) and loved it there. Being as Vermont is not that far south, it seemed a good choice for us, because we all loved Canada so much. I wish we had more time but unfortunately we only have 5-1/2 full days, so we are going to have to make some choices. Thanks for the suggestions!

Take a trip to Weston, VT and visit the Vermont Country Store. It's a lovely drive down route 100 through small valleys and and mountain peaks.
Someone else suggested that drive. Thanks!

Foliage is already beginning to turn (9/16). A few suggestions: make sure you have reservations for lodging; you might enjoy the Hero Islands on Lake Champlain just north of Burlington; for fun drive through Smugglers Notch as you leave Stowe; the East Side in Newport on Lake Memphremagog is a great place for lunch; lastly, bring a sweater and jacket since it could be 30˚or 80˚ on any given day.
Thanks for the tips. We have all learned from experience, to pack for all types of weather. Layering, as we call it! Sounds like a great trip to take. I hope we can get most of this in!

If you and/or wife are into flea markets, the best one is in Wilmington, VT, held both Sat & Sun. Lots of photo opportunities. Wilmington itself is a pretty little town which is just recovering from a major natural disaster event a few years ago. Mt. Snow is along Route 100 and Stratton Mt off of Route 30 - ski areas with the foliage giving good photo opportunities. Have fun and happy picture taking!
While in the Quechee VT area (also known as the Grand Canyon of VT), if you are into bird photography, especially raptors, visit VINS - The Vermont Institute of Natural Science in Quechee, Vermont. They take in injured birds (primarily birds of prey) and if they cannot be cured and released back into the wild, they become a member of this facility. They have two or three shows a day with photo op after the show for close-ups. They also have a number of nature walking trails. One of my favorite destinations while in VT.

Thank you for the tips! It is actually me and my sisters, my husband is not going on this trip. No husbands allowed! LOL

Thanks, sounds like a great organization. I love to take pics of anything nature has to offer. I am not sure if this trip will allow me enough time to do all the things recommended. Especially when traveling with four other females. But I hope I get to take my time and get some really good photographs while I am there. I might have to trek out on my own one day. Thanks for the suggestion, and I am adding it to my list.
Well, I have gotten nice photo trips by taking RTE 30 west out of Brattleboro! Plan accordingly as not to many places to stay overnight, but the scenic views of the covered bridges, rivers, etc are worth any inconvience! Enjoy
