Is the d5 your go too?
I am using the d500 and love it except for the highlights.
I am a fan of your art and enjoy your videos and have purchased your e book, it has been helpful. It is exciting to find you here!
Thank you.

Thanks for the kind words :)

My go-to really depends on what I need. Prior to the D850, my go-to for close wildlife was the D5, more distant wildlife the D500, and for landscapes, the D810.

Now, I think that most of my work will be done with the D850 - except for heavy action / really low light where the D5 is still the best choice.

Forget about Weed-B-Gone, that's consumer junk. This is what is needed to deal with this - an "INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH WEED KILLER" - removes all weeds, especially Dandelions.

Your's is probably better, more effective, for sure!

Does this character realize what a laughing stock he has become, without any help from the rest of us?

I really do feel sorry for him, well, maybe just a little bit of me does . . .

What other bodies would you nominate for world's best?

The BEST is always an allusive term. BEST for action, I think not, not enough FPS and the D5 focusing system is faster. BEST for weddings, I think not, does not have the low light ability of the D5. REPORTAGE, I think not, the D500 is faster and faster for sports. NO ONE CAMERA CAN EVER DO EVERYTHING THE BEST. No knocking the D850, but for ONE individual to crown it the BEST PRO CAMERA, I think not.

Hello all LKPs: especially, Gene51, Steve Perry, Vince68, and Haydon

Ah, I see the Low Knowledge Photographers (LKP) have roused themselves from their usual stupor in order to demonstrate their profound lack of knowledge.

So listen up, the 850 is a FF 25mp camera. Repeat that several times till it penetrates. This will be the setting to use with 95% of current lenses. It will be interesting to see the effect of down sampling on dynamic range. -- To take full advantage of the sensor the 3 high def. techniques must be observed. Test time, which LKP can list those common techniques. I’m betting none of you can!

It looks to me that the D850 will not only replace the D5 and D500, but also the D750.

Ah Selmslie, don't be too hard on yourself. You may be clueless but, you're not a windbag. Try reading and understanding my immediately above post. You know, the one about the 850 being a 25mp FF body. What's your reaction to that?

The 850 has a FF setting that allows you to select 11, 25, or 46mp. Bear in mind that's FF not cropped. I expect the 11 and 25 settings will further improve the 850's excellent DR.

LKPs, like Gene51, haven't wrapped their minds around that yet, and in Gene51's case, probably never will.

I can't be bothered wasting anymore time on this thread - shooting a 45mp camera at 25 mp is NOT downsampling. And the 11 and 25 mp raw images are limited to 12 bit. Even the D750 does better than that. I hope you don't live in a glass house, for a number of reasons, but principally because of all those stones you enjoy tossing at others. You are quite the funny guy . . . not to be taken seriously - ever!

I bought a case of this stuff just for you! And Haydon has another solution.

Hell, if the LKP hat fits, wear it. I didn't say everyone is a LKP, but people like Gene, Hayden, Steve... certainly fit the bill. You'll find a couple of my pics on UHH.

Now that poor Gene51 has been shown to be totally wrong, he can't be bothered wasting anymore time. Gene51, I know you are a little calcified between your ears, but surely you now know why the 850 is a good replacement for the 750?

As always, Gene51, I'm happy to clarify all the technical issues that befuddle you.
