Compact, slight weight and a wide magnification range - this standard zoom lens features a wide focal length range from normal to telephoto equivalent to 29-320mm in the 35mm format. It features an Optical Image Stabilizer for up to 4-stops of effective correction even at full zoom. Since Canon's optical image stabilization system is in the lens, not in the camera, you can see the stabilized, steadier images through the viewfinder. And the circular aperture can give beautiful background blur effects. This new wide zoom ratio EF-S lens delivers excellent high-speed performance at an affordable price.

Does it suffer from lens creep?
Hi Mike,
I want to make sure I understand your question so I can answer correctly. What do you mean by "lens creep"?
Walt
I doubt the lens suffers from lens creep, but the photographer might suffer from it! 😃 "Lens creep" is when the camera is held lens-down, the front glass will extend on its own due to gravitational pull. This is a common ailment found on the old EF 28-135mm Canon lens, and is a bit bothersome.
It must be symptomatic because this lens has a lock button to hold the lens in place and not creep. You can see the lock button in one of the pictures.
I own this lens and use it on my cropped Canon. It's a very good lens for the price.
I personally like it for casual shooting from street photography to shots at the beach.
Best of luck.
I agree, it is a great walk around lens.
