I am considering purchasing a Fujifilm X-T2 camera but I am concerned as to whether my copy of Lightroom 5.7 can process the raw files from the X-T2.
I would hate to spend $$ only to find out that Lightroom 5.7 cannot process these raw files. I have no luck contacting Fujifilm or Adobe. Do I need to address this issue in Q&A section?
Thanks for any advice, FiddleMaker
Lightroom v5.7 will not process Raw files from your X-T2. Fuji hears your pain, however, and has created a tool to allow those files to be imported to your computer and processed into TIFF files which LR v5.7. Details are available at the website, Fujirumors.com or possibly by now at the FujiUSA website. The X-T2, X-Pro2 and X100F are incredible cameras. /Ralph

DNG converter from Adobe, or Fujifilm's own converter, will bridge to your obsolete software.
That said, the best advice I have is to pay the ten bucks a month for a LR+PS+Bridge subscription. It will give you a much faster, smoother, nicer, more clever solution, and you'll wonder why you ever thought keeping LR 5.7 was a good idea. Yeah, I know I just started a flame war, but I've been on both sides of it. Believe me, the subscription is worth it. You'll have the latest cameras supported, as soon as Adobe supports them.

Bill, I have been considering this - the CC subscription option. I should do it.
Thanks Bill. My other option is simply to subscribe to the CC subscription Lr + Ps for $10/month

That's what I do and enjoy it every time I use it.
You can save a little money if you buy an annual subscription from B&H. They don't charge sales tax. You can save even more if you buy it from B&H when they have a reduced price "sale". They seem to do that a couple times a year.

The problem with converting to DNG files is that they are approximnately double the size of a RAW file (was doing this for the Canoon 80D when shooting RAW0. You also might want to upgrade to LR 6 for $79.00. It is updated with the newer caameras and you are not paying the $10 per month.

Bill, what sort of horror show am I in for when I convert from my CD version of Lightroom 5 to the CC subscription version. One of the Hoggers suggested getting the CC version thru B & H by paying a once-only annual fee. I will have all my photos backed up on an external hard drive. And I should do that for the catalog files as well ?? ~FiddleMaker

Adobe lists Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw camera compatibility on their website. Consult that to be certain.
However I think it's a pretty good bet that LR 5.7 won't support the XT-2's RAW files.
LR6 was introduced in Spring, 2015.... and Adobe stopped updating 5.x at that time.
The Fuji ST-2 was introduced in Fall, 2016.... a year and a half later. So, unless the XT-2 uses exactly the same sensor and firmware as an older camera that dates from the same time and was compatible with LR 5.x, I seriously doubt it.
The good news is that if you buy LR6 direct from Adobe, during checkout there you can choose an "upgrade" fro some savings.... I think they're still offering that for $99 (instead of the full version for ~$140 you have to pay when bought elsewhere). Adobe appears to have gone to great lengths to "hide" the upgrade option. This is the first time I recall them offering an upgrade instead of just a full version of LR at full price... and it's only found on a little pull-down menu during the checkout process and only offered when buying direct from Adobe.

Hi,
I think that if you buy CC, the CC manager will download and install the LR and PS apps for you. LR CC should then convert your catalog the first time you start it, and everything should just work. :D
Of course, it is always a good idea to back up both your photos and your LR catalogs.
B&H sent me an offer recently for CC at a reduced rate ($90-ish dollars) since I had purchased a lens from them. I took advantage of it so I could have PS/LR CC on my wife's computers also.

It's funny you should ask I just left the camera store this evening and inquired about the same thing. The gentleman in the store tells me that Fuji process its raw files differently than most other cameras and although not impossible even with the latest and greatest light room and Photoshop the subscription version they're difficult to manipulate.
And he tells me that Fuji is actually working on a conversion program to make it a little simpler

Based on what you are saying, I may hold off on getting the Fuji X-T2. If CC Lr & Ps have a hard time with Fuji raw files, I don't want to go thru with this.
