I like it a lot. I might have tried using a polarizer to cut down on the glare of the wet rocks and bring out their color and texture more. I might also try to darken the very white water section a little to make it less of a draw to the eye. Otherwise I think the composition and long exposure are quite nice.

I don't know what you're asking, improve this image? Add interesting foreground elements? Add something in the background that sparks more interest? You already made your decision on the composition and you already made your decision on how to present any movement in the picture, so what are you asking for!

No change needed, I like it the way it is.

I like the image. - but feel it's missing a main subject point. Some your eye is drawn too - my eye wanders over the picture looking for something to Latch on to

I was asking about post-processing. Maybe gallery is the wrong section.

Anyways, here is an attempt to remove some highlights.

Thanks for the encouragement, Blackie. Is the modified image better or not really?

I see what you mean. I was VERY limited in my positions for composition. Balancing on a quite small and slippery bank of stone

It does have a lot of noise, especially in the shadows. It was plenty dark. I tried cleaning up the noise, a bit, but not very successfully, as you note. I'll give it another try after I see how bad a test print looks.

I was thinking a nice salmon jumping upstream might improve it. Other than that, not much....

As a personal preference, I prefer to see some some bits of the water splashing/sparkling, as the main stream flows. It's likely a shutter speed detail, and, again, a personal preference. When looking at a stream, my eye does not see what the photo shows, in other words, so the loss of detail in the flowing stream begins to move into the abstract.

Others will have their preferences.

This is did just for fun and to pass on a tip...

Removing the blue cast and go for the whiter or warmer look is a good thing.

The quick edit is only to show what I think could be an added bit for interest....hope you are not offended by my editing a bit for a demonstration.

Cheers

Very nice shot. If you go back for a re-take, maybe a slightly faster shutter.

Is it just me or is it not quite level? What did you use to shoot it?
No, I probably wouldn't "add" anything to it. Nature is beautiful on it's own.
Was this captured in a tight canyon?
