Anyone considering pre-ordering the 45 MP Nikon D-850 ? Reviews look pretty good. The new "tilt screen" in a pretty nice new feature over the D-810 along with a faster and more accurate focusing system.
I pre-ordered the D850 from B&H plus the vertical grip, I have the D800 and the D810 and I love this series, I will be selling my D7100. The D850 offers some really nice features, one being the ability to switch between resolution (45mp, 25mp or 12mp) plus you can shoot in crop mode (at 45mp you come out with 20mp which is the same as the D500). Another feature is the articulating screen which is useful since I am old and bending down is harder. There are many more selling points for the new camera, I just hope that when I get it there are no recalls due to manufacturing problems.

Same here[...might be the last camera I have to buy.quote=Howard5252]I bought the D810 and have been quite happy with it and so as a second body I will be getting the D850. I will then be selling my D7100 and D7200.[/quote]
Old here also and will also appreciate the articulating screen. Nikon is pretty good on production so i don't anticipate any type of recall.

In the past, I have rationalized and believed that every body that I purchase will be the last body I will ever need to buy. It has always in time proved to be a lie. And, now the 850.

Hey, it's only money and you can't take it with you so purchase what you want and enjoy it while you are here. My view is this new camera will not make me a better photographer, but it will offer me opportunities to do better work by using some of the new features such as articulating screen and varying resolutions, among other features. When I purchased my D810 it was several steps above my D800 and I am expecting the D850 to be several steps above the D810, which does not imply that I dislike the D810 or D800.

I have a D850 on order and I'm anxiously awaiting shipment. I'll wait on the grip. I have one for my D810 and never use it. Phottix will probably come out with one at 1/3 of the price and I may buy one then, I'll not sell any of my other Nikons.
Have one on order also from B&H...looks like late September....

It's only money and you can't take it with you, so use at least some of it to make the lives of others more bearable. The most I have ever spent on a camera kit is $700; that was 21 years ago, so I am open to spending a little more than than now, but I'm not going to spend lots more on myself if that means our giving to charity suffers.
