Hi Greg - beautiful shots! Originally I had planned on going with you, but alas it was not to be. Oh well, maybe I'll get another chance someday. But love seeing your shots (and Plessner and Durango too)

We missed you Janyce. Hope you are well. Have you been following Katherine's posts. She's like a machine gun with that A99, lol.

# 2 and 3 are my favorites. Thanks for sharing. IMHO, #1 is too soft, upon download, but the composition rocks!

If you are hoping for tack sharp nightime photo at Victoria Falls, you'll have to wait till the river dries up. I'm quite pleasantly surprised with what I captured given the constant mist. Wipe lens, shoot, wipe lens, shoot, lol.

I am really humbled by all the generous comments. It was pretty hard to go wrong given the scenery we had to work with. And if you haven't noticed them, Plessner has many great threads here sharing her photos.

We had a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Africa last month. I organized the trip myself and our safari company (Pangolin Photo Safaris) said we could script our own itinerary if we could come up with 8 people. I found some friends to join my wife and I. Among them were two UHH members - Plessner and Durango. We picked a 3 week long safari that included Victoria Falls, a few days on a houseboat on the Chobe River and both lodge and tent camping.

The main thing I changed were our dates. We arrived in Victoria Falls just in time for the only three nights the Lunar rainbow is visible and were in the bush during the new moon so we had spectacular dark skies to view the Milky Way. Of course each sunset also brought opportunities. And as soon as we took our last sunset photos we celebrated with a "sundowner" - traditionally a gin and tonic just like Hemmingway did. Cheers.

All three are great. The trip of a lifetime seems to have been a big success.

Yes, and not just for the photos. Our safari companies, guides and fellow travelers made it just the best trip I've ever had.

Good to know. Wasn't trying to take anything away from your shot. I hope you know that.

No offense taken. It was a very "unique" shooting environment. Kind of like shooting a rainbow from inside the storm, lol.
