I live out where I need a GPS to find my way home - kinda - and almost every evening I hear owls 'hooting' south of the house. I've walked all over the place trying to find them and get a photo or two of one but I've never (in 14 years) been successful.
So, tonight, I'm sitting in my living room and I see this giant pair of wings out the window at the back of our house. They were big enough that it got my attention and when I looked up - sitting in a white pine tree about 20' from my living room window was this beautiful Barred Owl. He seemed to be watching the finches on our bird feeder .... ??? .... Anyway, here are a couple pictures of him (her?).
Congratulations on a beautiful shot. There's nothing quite like the experience of seeing your first owl, especially if you have your camera handy.
Very good! A gift after 14 years of effort.
Success after all the years is sweet. Nice shots, and I'm glad you were able to photograph them.
Great set and the Barred owls around here do not seem to frighten very easily, and will see them in the daytime fairly often!
Nice captures! My first owl was a Barred Owl.
