A work in progress, getting better background, depth of field and sharpness. I'm still waiting for a couple of slave flashes and a gel pack I ordered.

Really cool shots Donnie😎

Those are excellent. I worked perfecting waters all spring and like you I have found it takes a lot of practice. I have never had a drop quite as tall as yours in the picture. I use a water drop machine which I love. I use two wireless flashes and sometimes a lamp in behind my background. I seem to have my best luck with milk dropping into water but nothing as nice as yours. any suggest or questions please contact me. I probably cannot help you but I am sure you can help me.

Hope to hear from you

Thanks so much uofmwoodie! I use the Pluto Trigger and valve for mine. I use xanthan gum and a little milk in my water mixture and warm it up. A few days ago, I tried the mixture out of the fridge and my drops were only 1/2 inch tall. After it warmed to room temperature, the drops went to 3 to 4 inches in height and some were bouncing out of the frame. I had to reduce my drop size to keep it under control. Right now, I'm using a single flash, but have a couple of slave flashes on order. I try to keep my camera 2 1/2 to 3 feet from the drop with the flash power at 1/128 or 1/64. Also try to keep the aperture at f/13 or better to get maximum DOF and sharpness. If you have any questions, you can send a PM here or email at donniedryden@charter.net Hope this help, and best of luck to you. One more thing, look at FaceBook page Pluto Trigger Users Worldwide.

Thank you James! It is always great to hear from you. I have found doing water drops is a great pastime when the weather don't allow for getting out.

Thank you Larry! LOL, not even close. Every session is an adventure and what works one time doesn't always work the next. I learn something new each time, even if it is something not to do.

I very much like your work... I have posted some of mine in the past... Keep on doing what you are doing... perhaps post some details of the shots... It would be interesting to learn some of your techniques...
