I've been getting cancelled for glasses for "technical reasons". And I have been informed another order won't arrive in time. This is from the great Amazon.

Try B&H. I received filters and glasses in this week. Still in stock.

No matter where you try now, you may have waited a little too late.

Even Thousand Oaks Optical says filters are out.

Try this...Lunt is a well known manufacturer.

Lowe's has the NASA-approved American Paper Optics glasses for $2.00. The market for these will be dead right after the eclipse, so manufacturers don't want to overproduce.

Try Astro-physics.com. Best solar filters made. And not expensive.

If you know a welder see if you can borrow a filter glass from him. I welded for years and found a #12 to work well. I remember watching a partial eclipse using one and taking a peek at the sun on occasion just for the heck of it.

In the past several days I received an order for DayStar filters from B&H but one size was out of stock. However, it is due tomorrow. It appeared that most of the solar items they have were in stock although not all.

To the OP, if you are looking for simple cardboard eye glasses I have several extras (B&H included them free with the filters). If all else fails and you can't get any I'll be glad to send you some, no charge. PM me if you need to do this.

My daughter ordered the solar glasses from Amazon and when she got them, they were supplied by a different firm than was listed in the Amazon ad. they were not certified, and Amazon had her return them to Amazon and they refunded her money. She reordered from NASA, and hopefully will get to her in time as she has been notified that they were shipped.

Thanks for the responses. You guys are helpful. We've already booked a room down south and would hate to go 650 miles without the filters and glasses as of yet. Waiting to see if any of my orders show up this week. I'll be in touch.

I have been told 14# retinas have no pain sensors.

According to safety specs, a #14 is needed, not a #12... better safe than sorry.

Thanks for posting that, I always used a #12 without trouble but you are right, better safe than sorry. I don't know at the time if anything was listed as to the safe #. I left the place in 1994 and this was several years before that.
