Allen Catt the cover helped preserved the bridge also which I'm not sure it was said to calm the horses while traversing the bridge. The wood was plentiful in the golden area of covered bridge building therefore cheaper than the ferry route. That's my 2 cents.

Seems you had a interesting and enjoyable trip about the Ohio country sides. Its like a step back in time and enjoyable getting away from the city's busy-ness. Your images are nicely done,well composed and good details. Live and learn about "preparedness"...I had dead batteries on a photoshoot. duh!
