My goodness, I just checked this thread and found 1140 views and 30 responses. Thank you everyone for taking a look and the kind words. I think I have to redeem myself to the animal lover world a bit. Ive been married for 50 years come this august. We had three children. 4 of our 7 grandchildren lived with us for a total of 14 yrs so in all that time we have had our share of pets. Snakes (large ones) have escaped into the ceiling, the Basilisk lizard ran around the house, 7 rescue dogs , five rescue cats, even a rescue wild rabbit. We've had love birds and a cockatiel , domestic rabbits, snapping turtles and a green snake that escaped his cage and had two dozen little ones who appeared everywhere in the house for months. We had a boa constrictor that ate rats and my son decided to raise his own rats to feed it and save money. The problem came in when he realized the snake ate one rat a month and the rats multiplied by the dozens almost weekly. Thank heavens the local pet store helped us out by taking the whole kit and caboodle off our hands. We had a ferret named Merlin, and he lived up to his name. I'm sure I've forgotten some, but you get the idea. Maybe it's just that I"m all out of pet energy.
To answer one poster's statement, the gentleman who was walking this cat found me at the river again a couple of days later and gave me his email address and I did send him a copy. I hope he enjoyed it as much as you all have. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks Angela. My HUSBAND and I have been very lucky for 50 yrs. Three wonderful productive and accomplished, kind children and now 7 equally wonderful grandchildren. Of course now they're all just about grown and out and about building their lives I've had a HUGE hole to fill. thank goodness for this camera. Time to learn new things. My anniversary gift was a Jon boat, the MinKota engine is due to arrive on thursday. Salt ponds here we come. The good news this month is that our oldest grandchild, a soldier, will be home from deployment for the holidays God willing. He loves what he's doing, but still manages a message every week, and even an occasional phone call when he can, to Gramma. Doesn't get any better than that.

Perhaps, but they destroy the birds at my feeders because too many people who own them are not responsible. Sorry for the short rant...it's been a trouble filled summer with this problem this year.

I saw your beautiful kitty and just wanted to show mine to you. This is Oreo. He's turning 6 this month and we just found out he has diabetes. We can't afford all it'll take to keep him well, so we've opted to just love him all the more and as long as we can keep him comfortable and happy we will.

I am not a cat and dog lover, sorry, but I'm not. However, one evening I went for a stroll on the local boardwalk along the river in town to see who was flying in to fish and a gentleman was walking his cat. A proud little thing and she jumped up onto the rail, put her face into my 100-400 and stayed there until I snapped her picture. Then she jumped down and went on her way to finish her walk. Couldn't get over the eyes. Had to share.

cmc65: You are lucky that the cat felt you were good enough photographer to take her photo.... Nice one

Sue Oreo is beautiful. We in fact had an Oreo years ago that must have been cousin to yours. Almost identical. I'm sorry about his illness. We dealt with the same problem years ago only with a dog. I don't think the insulin treatment was kind in retrospect. I think you are making the right decision.
