There's something about the tipped head that makes that shot more appealing. The owl looks puzzled, and maybe it is as it tries to determine what's going on below it's roost.

Both owls were very aware of the dogs and didn't let them out of their sight the whole time they scampered around. Once the dogs left, they settled down and began to doze.

All of that helped a little, but I was particularly grateful that they haven't left yet. They were quite curious about my dogs who were chasing each other just below them. When things settled down, they went to sleep.
