Hi all,
I am Pri. New to this forum and new to the DSLR world as well. I have got a nikon 5100 with 18-55 mm lens and 55-300mm zoom lens as a gift. I have no clue how to use it except in auto mode. I Would really love to learn a bit more about photography. Looking forward to learn more through you all :). Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Pri
You have to start somewhere, and a D5100 is a nice place. I love mine, and it won't be long till your using A and S or even M. Start posting pictures, and remember, ask for CC, but be ready for honest feedback, and sometimes a little harsh, ignore the few.
Welcome to UHH, there really are lots of knowledgeable peeps here will to share their expertise. :)
Pri A good book ... Nikon D5100 for dummies by
Julie Adair King covers just about everything .
Also Nikon D5100 by Rob Sylvan covers everything
you need to know (From Snapshots to Great Shots)
Practice be patient and have fun!

That's the great thing about digital, Pri. You can take tons of photos, using different settings and just discard the ones you don't like. Just get out there and play!!
Welcome to the UHH

Thanks for the warm welcome and the suggestions. I was looking for a good tutorial book and thanks for suggesting the books. I would buy one of them soon. In bestbuy I saw this DVD -- Blue Crane Digital - Introduction to the Nikon D5100 Instructional DVD. Is it worth buying the DVD?
