Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it.
BTW, what IMHO stands for?
IMHO= In My Humble Opinion.

Does anyone have any experience with the Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro?
I want to get into macro photography and wonder if any of you have used this lens or if there is other better alternatives.
I use a Nikon D3300 - Nikon 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 and Nikon 50mm f1.8 primarily for landscapes and some portraits.
Thanks.
You owe it to yourself to at least take a look at the new Tamron 90mm macro, it's getting very good reviews and is about the same price as the Sigma.
Thank you. I'll look into it. I need one lens with AF motor since my D3300 does not have one.
Have you tried searching for a refurbished or used Nikkor 105 2.8? Might just fall into your price range.

IMHO = In my humble opinion - let us know if you buy the lens, and if so, how you like it. Enjoy!
I have the Nikkor 105 VRG. If I was buying today, it would be the Sigma. The AF limiter choices would be one of the "deciders" for me: three options on the Sigma and two on the Nikkor. The option omitted by Nikkor is the most critical for Macro.
I'd opt for the Tokina 100 f/2.8 macro. It's on sale at B&H $349 with the rebate. I'm a Nikon user and traditionally stay with Nikkor lens. But the reviews on the Tokina are very good, it's rated better than the Nikon 105mm and significantly less expensive. Check out the reviews, it will be my next purchase.
Some of the given choices don't have AF which I need because my D3300 does not have autofocus motor.

I use mine with the Sigma 1.4 Extender. It extends the foal length to 147mm which is excellent for insect shots or items which are relatively inaccessible. Go for it.
I have the Nikon version and the Tokina version of that lens for my d7000 and d800. Get the Tokina.
I use the Tokina 100mm ATX PRO on my D7200 , a fantastic lens .
