I have a dash cam in my car, and my Garmin DriveAssist 50 also has a video camera. These became popular in Russia because of insurance scams.

These Mashable.com links aren't worth viewing....the ads take up over 1/2 the screen with no way of closing them. It makes viewing the site content almost impossible.

You can expand the video screen.

I bought one a few years ago for that very reason. Lots of scammers out there. On the other hand, in the event of an accident where you are at fault it may also be used against you. However if you are a good driver, that is unlikey to happen.

As I understand it, you do not have to hand over your dash cam video, so if you are at fault, keep it to yourself.

I would think that in the event of a suit, the dash cam footage could be requested via a subpoena. Then if you say you did not keep it, you might have a lot of explaining to do for destroying the evidence. So in the case of it putting you in a bad position for the accident, you are damned if you produce it and damned if you are not.

I think you can delete 33,000 videos, as long as you tell them it only had video of you planning a wedding...just sayin!

yep, and you watch how the plaintiff attorney presents that to a jury of 12.

OMG Jerry, that video made me laugh so hard when that guy throws himself onto the windshield. LOL! Thanks for the post. Cheers.

I recently acquired a dash cam as a gift. It has two cameras, one for the front and one for the rear. Or either one can be setup where ever you want them. I have been known to use the rear camera as a backup camera.

There are people who don't understand how some things work. BTW, you can click on the Youtube link and watch it there. I can download the video using RealPlayer for later viewing.

And his friend was there with a camera. Even having a non-working dash cam could prevent lawsuits. When the woman pointed to her dash cam, they took off.

Good idea. I have a camera that is part of a license plate bracket. I should put that in front - but then I would need a place for the monitor.

Yes, that could be tricky, but you do not have to testify against yourself.

no you do not. But the lawyers can ask you questions that will make you look like you are admitting fault and that is how it appears to a jury. Plus you still have to defend yourself if they counter claim against you. There are many areas here that the average person does not want to get caught up in. The lawyers do get most of the money.

I can't tell you how many cases I handled where I ended up paying hundreds of thousands to defend and we had very limited to no liability.
