I am not sure where to post this, so I will put it here. I am sure they will probably move it to the correct area. My question is, why was this forum called the Ugly Hedge Hog ? It just seems a strange name for a photography forum. Anyway, I am sure somebody must know why.

My impression is that it is a standout name, is creative, and is hard to forget. And, of course, baby hedgehogs are cute.

This question has been asked many times over the years. There has never been an answer.

What's the big secret? I'm certain most subscribers have often wondered, and would appreciate knowing.

Ugly = Many threads turn that way.
Hedge Hog = Photographers are a prickly crowd.

So.... The name fits perfectly.

Ugly = the following people
Hedge = the original founders (long absent) were into hedge fund finances
Hog = they hogged all their earnings, and didn't share with anyone

They were ugly hedge hogs.

I've never seen an ugly hedgehog. They're all cute. Maybe that's what the founders meant. This would be something different.
