A photographer takes his camera with him/her at all times. Then you are just a picture taker.

A couple of years ago I did a lot of research looking for the best 'shirt pocket' compact/travel camera and came up with the Panasonic LF-1. It is a co-branded Leica C (not the C-Lux). It will go into a shirtpocket OK, but is more comfortable in a pants pocket. It has a larger than usual sensor, a very usefull EVF, full PASM controls and can shoot in RAW. The Leica lens is very sharp. It was my only camera on several trips to Europe and I took many great shots with it. I still carry it around when I don't want anything hanging on my shoulder. It may be hard to find one now, but the Leica C version is more readily available - at a Leica price.

If you want a fairly pocketable point and shoot with decent zoom and a 1" sensor (like the Sony mentioned above) get the Panasonic DMC ZS100. It's a great little travel camera and gets good results for a point and shoot. BTW it is an advanced bridge camera so it will shoot raw if you prefer. I get good results with mine just shooting jpegs.

Take a look at the Canon G7X Mark II. Small, decent sensor, reasonable zoom, shoots RAW.
A couple months ago, I realized that I was still not carrying a camera everywhere, even with an AWESOME Fuji X100s. I loved that camera, but I decided that a needed something more compact, and would love having a wider focal range. (The FUJI is a fixed 35mm equivalent.)
I bought an Sony RX100iii and I am very, VERY happy with it. The RX100iii has a 24-70mm focal range, an optical viewfinder and a popup flash. It is downright TINY! I had to buy a $17 grip to make it more comfortable to shoot with, and an extra battery but that's all anyone will need. It charges by plugging a USB charger right to the camera.
I was worried that the 1" sensor would render poor image quality - especially in low light, but that was not the case. It handles low light amazingly well and because of that and the size, it is also a very good street camera, so it's always on me when I commute into the city. Fine for portraits too, especially at 70mm. Good enough for travel architecture and landscape, but not the serious stuff.
This is not the artist's camera that the x100 is, but it is the perfect camera to have when you HAVE to go small and don't want to compromise IQ to the point of getting lousy shots. I think that, until phone cameras improve to the inevitable point they are headed, I will always have this camera with me.
(The iii version seemed to me to be as capable as the iv and v versions at a strong discount. The newer features weren't anything that I wanted. )
Take any of the Sony RX 100's - there are 5 models - they are all awesome, and little. Disney is HUGE and a lot of walking, you don't want a heavy camera. If you want some zoom, the HX80 is fantastic too.

Why not go for a bridge camera, that you can use as a back up. Maybe a used or refurb Canon sx50 or any other maker of similar type. You can always shoot them in auto.

I highly recommend the Canon G9X.
I have a Canon Power Shot ELPH140. 16MP. Don't know if it's still available but I got for $130.00 and it fits in my shirt pocket.I think it does a real nice job.

^ I looked at the G9X when making my decision but the lack of a viewfinder took that one out of the running. I find the screens hard to see in sunlight so a viewfinder is a must for me.
By the way. It also has a metal body so it will take a little bit of rough handling.
