Nice set, but no.1 needs leveling.
Jan,
Beautiful. These pics take me back to my childhood. I was fortunate enough to have a father who grew up in Luray and had family in Sperryville. From Front Royal to Afton, we lived along Skyline Drive every summer and I loved every minute of it. Every year we would stop at Fisher Gap to take the same picture of us, making the same face, in the same family order. Cheesy to most people, but they are traditions and memories I cherish.
Is the "Red Barn" still standing? Its down in the valley. If you are heading south and have past Big Meadows, I believe its the 2nd or 3rd overlook. My father also always took a photo of that, like clockwork, every year. Red barn, white trimmings...
Thank you for sharing!
Missed you lately, I have been on a trip to Alaska which ended up taking almost a month. Your photos are always great.

And beautiful views you found. These are quite lovely. Unfortunately, when I drove it there was fog so dense I couldn't see the front end of my car! So I'm glad to see what is really looks like!

Thank you for bringing Skyline Drive back to my memory. Had to be in the mid 60's when I was there. Was in the Army stationed at Arlington Hall Station, Va. on a whim we drove down near Front Royal, Va, and jumped on Skyline Drive. It was in the fall and the leaves were turning. We drove the area overlooking the Shanondoah Valley. My thoughts then were that that place must have been one of the most beautiful places on God's earth. Sorry to say that I was not that into photography at that stage of my life.
Beautiful series Jan, love those clouds.
