Very nice photos thanks for sharing would you mind telling what area these photos were taken. Saying hello from Pittsburgh and welcome to the forum.
The photos were taken about ten miles from State College in the Centre Hall area. Lots of Amish in the central Pa area. The Amish have taken over the farming pretty much in this area.

Great images. I heard or read that we are not supposed to take images of the Amish. I guess that has changed??

Hasn't changed. tried to take pictures of a couple and was told not to.
What you are talking about are Amish rules I don't follow the Amish way of life. When out in the public I treat them just like all other Americans. I don't go onto their property and take their pictures. They are on a public road. I don get right up in their face and take their pictures, but from a distance that is ok with me. No law on taking photos of Amish that I know of.
Only you can decide what should be done in a particular situation.

Mike, I have one and only one question for you do you live around an Amish community?
I live relatively close to an Amish community. When I was younger(35 yrs ago), a farmer would take a group of us kids there when it was time to auction off his livestock. We would go several times a year and spend the day. On one of the trips, I had my little hot pink, 110 film camera. As I was taking a picture of an empty horse and buggy, a little Amish boy came over and started talking to me. He told me to make sure that I didn't take a picture of anyone's face. He said that the Bible talks about not making a graven image of yourself. Then his father came over and asked what we were doing. After I told him, he invited me and my 2 cousins to share a picnic lunch with his family. He and his wife answered all of our many questions with such patience. Afterward he put me up on one of his horses with my cousin and let his son take our picture. I still have it somewhere. When it was time to go, he let me take a picture of his children but the boys pulled their hats low in front and the daughter turned her head so I could not get their whole faces. After that day, I would seek them out everytime we went to auction. They would often send me home with jars of gooseberry and strawberry jam, honey, and once I was given a small crock with sourdough bread starter to give to my grandma. In return, I would give the kids little watercolor paint sets and paper, and homemade play dough. My grandma sent some fabric along one time, as a gift for a new baby. I was surprised when the next time I came I had a bonnet made for me out of the leftover material. Two years later, I could not find them at auction. I walked to their farm but it was empty. I was heart broken. I had come to love this family. I later learned that the father had an accident that left him disabled and they moved to a different community with the mother's family.
I may not follow their beliefs but I will always respect them and their culture.

Great set Josk41...really enjoyed them! I have a photo someone took of me in Lamar where I had several Amish children around me looking at a photo album...and their father didn't even mind...times are a changing

No I don't, but I respect their culture and so should you!
Time to close the topic. I live among the Amish and have many Amish friends I also take them to the store to buy their groceries. And every once in a while when they need me in a hurry they call and I also take them to the Dr since they don't drive themselves. I do respect them and their culture. Like the Lady said times are changing even in the Amish world. But I might add you are all right they don't want their face photographed. They think it's something about bringing glory to themselves and they don't want that. The young ones take pictures with their cell phone they just don't show them to the elders of the Amish community. The are very plain people. The young boys and girls also like little spirits when they get out anyway from their elders.
I have taken many photos for the Amish, but it's of their house, barns or livestock never of themselves. Sorry if I offended anyone with these photos.
