As a follow up to my previous post, I just received from B&H the Velo battery grip for my D7200; I have heard good and not-so-good comments about this grip. So far everything works and the camera seems to respond to all of the commands from the grip. Time will tell... keep my fingers crossed.

I have had one on my d7100 now for about one year...
No problems so far....
I would not anticipate any problems.
I have a Vello grip for my Canon T1i and it works great.

Good to know. It really works well.

I remember your last post on this subject. There were some who advised against getting a third party grip. Some said to only buy the expensive Nikon Brand. I haven't bought a Vello grip, but bought other items from that Brand, and have nothing but satisfactory results. Vello is a trusted third party Brand. IMO. Glad you are happy with it.

Congrats! I had a non-Nikon grip on my D600, and it worked fine. As you apparently know, some of them don't work out too well. Keep us informed if any problems develop.
Got mine yesterday, too, for my D500. So far so good!

Just picked up the D7200 about a week ago, coming from the D7000 with the Nikon MD-11 vertical grip which I loved. Was disappointed when
it would not fit the D7200. The camera shop rep introduced me to the Vello vertical grip but was very hesitant as I had tremendous luck
with the Nikon product. Not knowing much about the Vello I didn't pull the trigger. So, after this wordy comment, thanks for
your review and the others on this post. I will rethink the Vello vs the Nikon.

I have used an inexpensive Neewer grip on my D7000 for over a year. It fit well and works perfectly.
After my new D7200 arrived I bought a Neewer grip for it. It did not fit perfectly flush against the bottom of the camera body; there was always some free play. I was not confident that it was secure enough for the ARCA plate tripod adapter with a strap fitting. I like the way the camera hangs at my hip (my usual lens is the Nikon DX 18-200mm) from my Op-Tec shoulder strap when I attach the ends to one top lug and the ARCA plate.)
I'll return it and buy the Vello grip. (I wish I'd read this two weeks ago.) IMO nothing is a better recommendation than a first hand report from a actual user.
