Thanks for all the input, it has given me a lot to think about. Today I used a friends Panasonic FZ200 and it seemed to do ok. Would the mirrorless cameras be better, weight and photos?

Well the sensor is only 1/2.3" @ 12mpx, but it does have a Leica f2.8 constant lens. It's a fine bridge camera, but I'd take my old em1 over it along with some fast prime lenses or a 12-40.

I am thinking of getting a mirrorless Camera and would appreciate any advice. I have a Nikon D700 and lenses but due to severe arthritis in my hands the weight of the Camera is making it difficult to use. I have read that the mirrorless Camera are lighter in weight. Again, any advice will be appreciated.

Here's a short article about the difference 'twixt the Fujifilm X-T2 and the Olympus E-M1 Mk II:

Check out Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic or Sony mirrorless models.

Totally agree, but you must hold these cameras and feel comfortable with the controls that's why I chose Fuji.

Be aware that mirrorless are generally smaller - with smaller controls - so limited manual dexterity could be an issue.

I bought a Sony A6000 for when I wanted something smaller than a DSLR. It's a great little camera, until you add a larger lens.

Compact cameras, $500 range.

I bought a used Nikon1 system from KEH (Nikon V1) and have never looked back. It is a way of getting into a mirrorless system for under $300.00 and it a great system to boot.

What's interesting is that I found the controls on a canon SL-1 to be more cramped than my old em1. So it really comes down to ergonomics. For me the em1 and em1ii cameras fit perfectly in my hands (especially with the RRS camera plate).

Sony a6500 and a 18-105 lens weighs only 2 lbs. All my Nikon gear is now gone, and I get shots almost as good, but I now carry the camera and don't feel the weight.

You need to change your user name :-)

You probably get more shots than you would of with your Nikon since it's easier to carry around and less bulky...or at least that's one thing I noticed.

I have 3 Sonys and I love them all. Looking to purchase the A9 soon. I shoot weddings and fine art portraiture, my cameras have to preform to their best. I have never been disappointed. Check out what other pros say, You Tube or google Gary Fong, Jason Lanier, Scott Robert Lim just to name a few.

I understand your dilemma. I have switched from to a Sony a6000 and have adapted easily to the evf. The weight and the size are a delight.

I too have bad arthritis; so bad I have had both knees and three disks in my back replaced. I have found the Fuji line very managable for my hands. Check out the XT-20.

I too am a Nikon guy, but was wanting something a little smaller and lighter. Several years ago, I gave Olympus mirrorless MFT a try. I now have three. Great little camera(s). Sad to say, the Nikons are hardly ever used anymore.

I have been a Nikon FX user for several years and decided I wanted something lighter, I recently purchased the Olympus OM-D EM 1 Mark ll and I have to say that I am amazed at this camera, as someone else noted the menu's can be a little daunting, but after a fews days you will get the hang of it, and who doesn't like to boast about 60 fps in it's pro capture mode.

As a long time user of Nikon, late last summer I bought an Olympus EM5 MkII and love it. I find myself using it more often that my Nikon's. Image quality is excellent. I look at KEH pre-owned and Olympus factory reconditioned lenses to save money. The 12-40mm f/2.8 lens is my favorite so far on the body, but the 25mm and 45 mm lenses are excellent as well.
