I am an old person and I remember way back but not yesterday or why I went down in to our cellar or for what. I do hold the door for people and I like it when they are some distance from the door because the then feel obligated to run. I am careful driving because if I have an accident the will label me as an elderly driver and beside that I drive an SUV. Any way Patric McManis said his old friend said "just waking up in the morning can make his whole day". Now some of you youngsters in your sixties ---just you wait and if you have to run because someone far ahead is holding the door for you be sure and say hello to me.

Inside every older person there is a younger person wondering what the hell happened.

65 for me. And my wife complains that she worked just as hard as me (I was an engineer, she was a teacher), so why is my SS payment higher than hers? Simple. I maxed out on SS taxes every year for decades. She did not. Engineers make more money than teachers. Fair? That's a debate for another time, but it is a fact.

As Carl Reiner said, "If you're not in the obit, eat breakfast." Look up his HBO interview for some interesting comments by a bunch of nonagenarians.

And if you aren't one, I bet you know one! I got this from an "old friend of mine!" I'm passing this on since I did not want to be the only old person receiving it. I guess it’s not a bad thing to be called after all.

"OLD PEOPLE"
Old People are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem Old People remove their caps, cover their hearts, stand at attention, sing without embarrassment.
They know the words and believe in them.
Old People remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy, and Hitler.
They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mention Vietnam.
If you bump into an Old Person on the sidewalk he will apologize.
If you pass an Old Person on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady.
Old People trust strangers and are courtly to women and treat them with great respect.
Old People hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.
Old People get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.
Old People have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children, grandchildren or their animals.
It's the Old People who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.
This country needs Old People with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country and decent values. We need them now more than ever.
I was taught to respect my elders. I never really ... (show quote)

me too I am an old person

I could go on but.....

Good idea. Go on --- anywhere you like.

Hey, Nikonbob, when you start planning your BWCA trip give the Sawbill Lake entry a looksee. From it you can swing East, West, and North. We have done all directions. One lake I liked was Cherokee, north from Sawbill. Could catch some real nice sized trout there. There is an outfitter at that entry point where you can get all the 'last minute' stuff. Also chow. It is called Sawbill Outfitters - I think you can arrange your trip including the permit with them. From my experience, they are square shooters.

God bless you, John. I only wish I felt like a whipper snapper... Have a wonderful Independence Day. Hope to get to Minnesota before too long. I am an avid canoeist and would love to paddle in the Boundary Waters.
