Will the lenses from a canon t5 work on a canon mark ii? Thanks

If the lens is EF-S(on the lens) it only for crop sensor ONLY. They will not fit n a full sensor without a hammer. Since II is meaninless to a specific camera, you need to determine if your 'II" is full or crop.

If you are thinking of upgrading, consider the 80D. Look closely at the specs, you just might change your mind. Since I don't know your photo needs, I can't really tell which might suit you better.

I chose the 80D for its' articulating TOUCHscreen, better low light level performance (f8 and -3 ev which works with 1.4 tc on a 5.6 f stop lens), Dual Pixel Phase Detection, vastly improved (over my T2i) live view focusing.

It is the 7d

AHA!

7D Mark II.... APS-C model, same as the T5.

Both cameras can use all Canon EF-S and all Canon EF lenses, if those are what you have for use on the T5.

Most third party lenses (Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc.) that worked on T5 will fit and work on 7D Mark II, too. However, there are sometimes compatibility issues with older third party lenses on newer cameras.

Are you considering purchasing a 7DII as an upgrade from a T5? That's a big leap... from one of the simplest, most automated, entry-level models to the most-advanced, complex, least automated, most "pro"-oriented APS-C model that Canon offers. The T5 is designed for folks stepping up from a point-n-soot to their first DSLR, with quite a bit of support and automation. The 7DII is designed with pretty experienced DSLR users in mind, folks who know how and will mostly want to do all their own settings, with minimal support and automation. This allows the 7DII to be fine tuned for a wide variety of situations, but also makes it pretty easy to set up incorrectly and end up getting worse results! For example, 7DII has no "Scene" modes like you find on many Canon models. Instead it has three user programmable custom modes. And 7DII has quite a number of autofocus system adjustments and settings. In fact, there's a separate 50 page user manual just for the 7DII's focus system, in addition to the 500+ page camera user manual.

If you're prepared for the more advanced model and need it's top-of-the-line dust & weather sealing, 10 frames per second shooting speed, extra durable shutter mechanism to stand up to a very high volume of shots.... 7DII is a very good choice. To get the very best out of it's 65-point autofocus system, it will need to be paired up with high performance USM lenses.

If you don't need those features for really demanding shooting such as pro sports photography, among current models an 80D, 77D or T7i might be a better choice.... All three use a newer, higher resolution 24MP sensor (7DII is 20MP)... and have a newer 45-point AF system that's only slightly lower performance than 7DII's in some respects, and is actually superior in some ways (for example, 27 "f/8 capable" points as opposed to one in 7DII). For that matter, the slightly older T6i or T6s models also might be a good choice... also use the 24MP sensor and a 19-point AF system largely inherited from 70D, which in turn used a slightly simplified version of the AF system used in the original 7D. I noticed a particularly good price on "refurbished" T6i currently being offered at the Canon USA website... about $1000 less than a 7DII body typically costs.

80D, 77D, T7i, and even T6i or T6s all would be significant upgrades from a T5. They all have articulated touchscreen rear LCD displays... the 7DII's display isn't a touchscreen nor is it articulated. Depending upon what lenses you have in your kit, upgrading some of those actually might make more difference in your images... And that may be more possible if less budget were being spent on the camera upgrade.

Of course, 7DII also would be very nice upgrade and may be the perfect camera for you. Just don't be too quick to rule out some of the other options.

7D Mark II is not a full frame camera. It's APS-C and works fine with EF-S lenses.

That is not right. Your EF lenses can be used on either, but the EF-S are for the crop sensor not full-frame.

All your lenses from the T5 will fit and work perfectly fine on a 7D and a 7D MII.
No loss of function.
If you have EFs lenses they will not mount on any Canon FF camera or the 10D or older. They do not cover the image sensor of the FF so you would get incomplete covered images. This was a decision by Canon to do it like this and the rear elements of many of these lenses will hit the mirror of the FF cameras so physical damage will occur.
But this is not an issue with the 7D series cameras so get it and enjoy.

They will also not fit on a Canon APS-H crop camera like the 1D MkIII...

I was just checking to see how many people would catch that.
