This new G2 lens, announced alongside their new 18-400mm super zoom, will start shipping in August in Nikon mount, not until September for the Canon mount. Still no word on Sony A mount availability

I'm very interested in that. I have Tamron's 45mm f/1.8 SP VC lens for Nikon. I've been impressed with it. I like that it has a metal lens barrel and is fully weather sealed.
I see that Sigma just announced a redesigned 24-70mm f/2.8 lens ($1299). I'll be interested in reading some reviews on both lenses.

Sigma jumped the gun on that one by announcing it way back in January, it will also start shipping in July and August, with the Canon mount coming first from Sigma and the Nikon to follow. Also no word on Sony or Pentax mounts yet for it.

Compared to Canon and Nikon, that's a very short lens, which is not a bad thing. I look forward to reviews and comparisons.

I have several Tamron's and all seem to suffer from soft focus, It will be interesting if they have fixed that. Otherwise they are a good lens.
