I'm glad I got the shot of the red one - several days later deer ate all the blooms and buds off the entire bed!

Deer and raccoons - in the last couple of weeks we've live-captured three raccoons which were digging up my newly planted flowers (as well as a feral cat which will probably be traumatized for life after being trapped!). That's life when one lives in the middle of the woods!

beautiful Lilly buds are quite edible. They are available canned at oriental food stores.

Thanks for the comment - the deer population is a way of life here in the woods although they seem to magically disappear each fall when our friend from PA comes down to hunt - LOL!!
