Not the same as a true 5-axis stabilization.

For that you need to buy a Steadicam Zephyr-V, only $11,000. I think I will go pick up one for each of our cameras. That will only be $55K. I'll have to refi the house but hey!

If I'm not mistaken, that feature is video only on the 6DII.

What I have read says nothing like that.
Just says 5-axis stabilization, period.
Where did you see that?

Yes!!!And I have pre-ordered it! Looking forward to finding out if 6DII will be THE replacement for my almost 9 year old 50D with EF 28-135mm and EF16-35 f/4L that have served me well all these years I haven't wanted to replace it with anything physically bigger or heavier, nor have I wanted to "build a stable" of 3 or 4 cameras & several lenses. However, while waiting for the 6DII, I have rented the Fuji X-T2 w/16-55 f/2.8 for a week's workout to have a comparison. I must say it was an enjoyable experience, producing results that impressed me. Thanks go to the several UHHers who have been posting their experiences with the Fujis and with the Canon 6D, 7DII and 5DIII--all very helpful to me over the past several months.

According to the latest rumor, the new 6Dii will have 5-axis stabilization. Pretty soon you DLSR shooters will see what you've been missing out on for the last 5 years.

I love how Canon is quick to implement the latest technology.

Unless you are talking about the Sony or Olympus hybrid system, both of which can use proprietary lenses that have OS together with the IBIS, I ain't missing much. IBIS is fine for short lenses, but not that great when you start hitting 100mm (Olympus IBIS). or longer than 90mm (Sony). But both offer an integrated solution - Oly uses their own lenses with OS together with IBIS to give you as much as 6 stops or more of stabilization, though I have not experienced the hybrid on long lenses. Sony can use an OS lens with their IBIS body, and will select the best mode for stabilizing. Five axis IBIS is X, Y, Roll, Pitch and Yaw. In lens stabilization offers Pitch and Yaw, and when you use a long lens on a Sony with IBIS, it will use the OS in the lens for pitch and yaw movement, and the IBIS for X, Y and Roll. I haven't experienced this either but a friend with an A6500 and some OS lenses and loves it.

Without going to far into the weeds as I am no techie by any stretch, I asked B&H and the answer is the 5 axis stabilization applies to both stills and video.
