Call Nikon. I love my 24-120 and it's butter smooth.

WD40 and duct tape r the two best tools which came along in recent years. No pro worth her/his salt would be without either.

I learned a long time ago that if you can't fix it with duct tape ... you are not using enough duct tape!

I have added another item to my list of best tools ... Velcro.

Maybe the dyslexia version of WD40?

Close but no seegar. DW40 is a commercial cleaning agent used in institutional kitchens in Poland. (Google is my friend.)

No, no, no, no and no.

Did I say No enough? WD 40, incidentally, is noting more than fish oil with a penetrant. I am sure you do not want fish oil inside your lens.

"There is a popular email circulating that you may have seen. It states WD-40 is primarily fish oil, but that’s not true."

We got into this on a reel cleaning forum last week as well. WD-40 is a solvent first and a lubricant second. The main ingredient is mineral oil as a lubricant. Its main purpose is to loosen frozen parts. It does NOT contain fish oil, an urban myth. I use it to loosen components but I cannot think of one use on a piece of optical equipment.

My understanding is that the "WD" stands for "Water Displacement" and that the "40" is just that the 40th version did what they wanted.
