Ben C. Solomon, a Times video journalist, embedded with an Iraqi unit. He tells the story of Major Sajjad al-Hour as he commands 150 men through the war-torn streets of Mosul.
Not a place I'd volunteer to go. What they go through daily makes our lives look cushy and namby-pamby. Every day they know that it's possible for their head to be ripped off their body, or giant bullets ripping through their flesh, and they have to accept that if they want to go on. We Americans don't know how good we have it, and yet we constantly complain about some of the most petty and inane matters, and I'm talking about our daily lives, not national politics (though there is some of that there as well).
