I was just watching a show on PBS about the hard go of wildlife in Yellowstone. They said the winters are getting shorter and the bears are waking up early. Mother Nature isn't ready for the bears and it cuts the odds of the bears survival.
With the early warming winter and refreezeing the snow is not longer fluffy. It becomes hard packed ice. The buffalo can't get to the grass under the snow. Fox's and Owls that hunt rodents under the snow can not get to them. Wolves depend on soft snow to hunt. They said they should have a kill in about 1 in 6 tries. Now with the iced over snow it's 1 in 15 tries. All the wildlife depends on each others healthy survival. When one goes it has a trickle down effect.
After the program it didn't leave me with a favorable impression. I think it's extremely possible that my great grand kids could see the last of some wildlife in Yellowstone. And with the current administration I don't see any help for the park any time soon.
