Being Observent is called spying.

If the government did it to you, you'd resent it.

I guess we should disallow most science, huh?

Spying would include intent. The Govt does spy on each and everyone of us, get used to it.

You are correct, and my point is while you resent the government doing it, others would resent your doing it, monitoring their spending.

Pipe in, are you for real, it is you that piped in. You responded to my comments first, that was the beginning of the conversation.

And let me add that I did not say that I resent the Govt. spying on me, that is a supposition you made.

No it is not, it is the substitute for food stamps which are to be used for feeding the family, not forCigarettes, Booze, or other items. When you live among these people spying is not necessary, you just have be observant while waiting in line.

* * * * *
You shouldn't be living among these people then obviously.
What's a nice kid like you doing in a place like that?

You are in hiding, I live in Los Angeles. I could blind fold you and take you to any of five or six different areas in the city and upon removing the blindfold you would swear you were in a different country. After my divorce I wound up in an affordable Hollywood Apt. On the bottom floor were refugees from Russia, to the Left and right were many older Armenian families, Straight ahead were more Latinos than you can shake a stick at. I had Latino Gangs in front and Armenian Gangs to the rear. One of my good points is if I want to I can get along with anyone and I involved myself with the Youth and helped them learn to respect the law and the police.

I have no qualms about helping those in need but when that help is abused I get a little pissed.

So you stand around spying on what people buy?

Let's take the republican attitude; what they buy with the money in their pocket is their business, is it not?

Sounds like Twardlows black trash 'friends', neighbors and his old lady.

Actually a serious question, should we nationalize grocery stores, next to housing for many families it is the largest expense a family faces, would it not be a good idea to take profit out of our food supply?

Won't be necessary. Amazon's business model will make for more competitive pricing in the markets it enters. Amazon is run like a start up company and not a mature business. In mature businesses profits become paramount as the subsequent cash is distributed to shareholders as an incentive to invest. Mature businesses usually have a stable stock value with minimal growth. Amazon at 23 years old is still be run like a start up. Profits for operating capital come from its web and cloud services and commissions from independent sellers so the company. It stock value continues to climb to new heights every quarter and its investors are satiated with increase net worth instead of higher dividends.

In the grocery industry profits are very small on a per item basis and volume is the key to keeping the lights on. Remove the profit requirement from grocery in just one company in the market place like what Amazon is expected to do with Whole Foods and the others in the marketplace will find themselves struggling.

Here in Florida, the average price paid for groceries is higher than a lot of other areas of the country because one company, Publix, has maintained an near monopoly on with a huge share of the market. I have virtually stopped shopping at Publix and now buy fresh produce from Aldi, Costco and Whole Foods. I get meat and seafood from Costco and an independent grocer. I still buy cat food at Publix as they are literally on the corner by our condo. I look forward to increased competition for my grocery spend.

People don't shop at Publix for the prices, that is for sure, people shop there for improved service levels and cleanliness.

Still not seeing a lot of support for the government taking over our grocery stores.... Does no-one think that to be a good idea?
