EdJ0307 Loc: out west someplace

I purchased a Kodak stereo camera at an estate auction a while ago. There was film in it but I didn't know what. Turned out it was Kodachrome but I didn't know how old it was. Finished the roll and took it to the local camera store to get it developed but they said nobody processed Kodachrome anymore. And if I wanted to buy a roll of current slide film it would take a month to get it processed.

Does anybody here know of a place that processes Kodachrome film?

I kept all of my medium and large format equipment and added a DSLR to the mix. Then spent a good amount of time analyzing how that camera worked. I still use the Hasselblad and Graphic View Camera and prefer those along with my SLRs. However, I work equally well with all of them. I just rarely use color film anymore.

"Bye Bye Miss American Pie" . Or maybe not! Well, at least "those good ol' boys are making Whiskey and Rye" . I had just gotten "into" digital photography, having sold my large format cameras, my 'Blads, and traded my Nikon SLR for a Digital, Nikon, SLR.

Like other big companies, they weren't paying attention.

When was the last anyone was in a Sears or J.P. Penny store.

And, Radio Snack is gone too... others to follow, probably sooner than later...

And the large retail business is on the "downhill slide"..

Not any more. Dwayne's Photo, in Parsons, Kansas, was the last place in the world that developed Kodachrome.

The last time I was in Sears was Jan. 1991. The result of that visit was a lawsuit that resulted in Sears presenting me a check for a bit over $10K.

I am a retired pipefitter, I worked at a Kodak plant in Windsor Colorado, a couple of times. They still produce [or use to] x-ray and movie film.

I hope I don't start something. I just want to say that I really liked Kodachrome and was always lukewarm toward Ektachrome, though I could process it myself with the kits full of chemicals they sold. (E4 when I was doing it.) At the time, late 60s, Ektachrome was the higher speed option and could be pushed to higher ASA. The colors were more subtle. The grain was much higher. Ektachrome was said to be more prone to fading and color shifts over time. One of these days, as I've already planned, I'm going to pull out my old slides to scan them, and then I'll see how time has affected both films.

Kodachrome 64??

IIRC, Kodachrome 25, which I always considered to be "the real thing", was discontinued some years earlier.

They still manufacture film and probably will for some time. Read the whole story instead of part of it.

Checked the site. They only process it as a black and white negative. I don't know if I want to spend the $19 for a B&W negative. As far as I know the film may be so old as to be useless.
