I think its a good photograph, a very good photograph. The subject is as imposing as an image, as it is an animal. The picture does not achieve greatness; not every picture needs to. It is a little beyond me to come up with what would say what greatness in an image is. Little things add up to make a shot a candidate. In this case the out of focus closest folage does not help. As such it can't be condemned. In another composition it might be a contiribitor. Not this time, though. If the old fellow had shot a glance at the camera just for a moment- - - He is interested in something else, and thus does not connect eyes with the viewer. Regardless, I like it.

I thought about the grass, but...I did not have the courage to run up and move it out of the way. Hesitate and...oh, well! (:-0)
