I post photos on facebook for a few friends to look at. I have a site with zenfolio where I post most of my photos that I try to sell. I have only had the site up for about 6 months. Search engines find it quite well if the right search words are used. I also have a site on shutterfly displaying some photos and a couple of video slideshows. I have links to my zenfolio site on facebook, shutterfly, pinterest, and my UHH profile. Still not drawing a lot of traffic. I am a hobbyist willing to sell a photo or two to someone who thinks the photo is worthy of hanging. I am using the $240 per year zenfolio site. Sounds a little expensive but when you add all the included amenities to a cheaper site, it comes out about the same. I like the site and it was pretty easy to set up. Just haven't sold anything yet. My site is listed in my signature at the bottom of each of my posts.

I have wondered about Flickr since they changed a few years ago to make it "easier". I understood they were going to search my whole computer and post every picture to their site. I don't want that and could never figure out whether that was the default, or I could turn that off and still upload deliberately.

Microsoft does the same thing with OneDrive. They will default to saving everything on your computer to their cloud if you aren't paying attention. I have a cloud backup service, but it's not Microsoft, and I say what it does.

I am still posting on Flickr and they have not scanned my computer to download my photos to the site. I post the photos I want to Flickr on my own. If I wanted to post all of my photos to Flickr I have the use of 1 terabyte of space. But, the download is not automatic.

I'm part of a photo users group with my company, and I've learned a lot about where to put your pics. I know professionals who want to sell pics have specific ideas. I had used flicker for some time, but recently discoverd zenfolio. I'm interested in knowing where you post your pics to, if at all, and why or why not?

I use Zenfolio. My site has client side that is not searchable in google and only accessible with a specific url and password. Clients can look at proofs, typically images that have been edited in Lightroom-only, with a small watermark as a reminder that these are not final edits or of any use other than picking poses and content. The rest of the site is used for my personal work. Zenfolio also accommodates raw file storage, which is a great to back up client raw files.

An inexpensive, easy solution is jalbum.net. They have a number of different plans for their software.

Oh yes Indeed you were. Thank you for clarifying that.

Unfortunately the "new" UHH format shows only one line of the quote and it's tiny text on my iPad and alcohol may have further contributed to my not seeing it. Sorry about that.
