Walking around the lake at a local, city park my wife spotted this bird standing a palm branch. As I approached, camera in hand, the bird did not move. It just stood there while I took it's picture.

Anybody know what it is?

This bird is known as an American Bittern. Lives in grasses along water usually in marshes. Seldom calls except in mating season when it sort of croaks. Nice shot!

We get them up in Massachusetts in the summer but they are rare. Nice shot.

Green Heron, we have them here in Vermont too in the summertime.
Mostly only see them in the swampy wildlife refuge areas.

It's a Green Heron...a Green Heron I say...I'll have pulled pork...tator tots...garlic bread and a sweet tea...please..........
