Printer problems

I have an Epson 545 printer. I have a problem of lines across my photos about an inch apart. Can I remedy this in the settings, or is the printer just too "low end?"

Have you run a cleaning cycle (or 2)?

Run nozzle check to check the distribution of the inks.

Also, check your print quality (in the driver). I get the lines if I print from a "non-photo" setting. They go away when using "photo" or "best photo" quality.

This is a sure sign of needing a cleaning cycle, perhaps even two or three or more. I have no issues like this, thankfully, with my Epson P800, but my Epson Ecotank 4550 printer (designed for office work & not photo printing) seems to need constant cleaning cycles. Had to use six the other day to clear up the issue at hand. The nice thing about the Ecotank printers is that the ink cost is no big deal! Best of luck.

I had an Epson printer which had the same problems. Epson tech support suggested that I run a "clean print heads" routine 4 times, wait 24 hours and then clean the print heads twice. This did not solve the problems although I did burn through nearly $80.00 in ink (which made me furious). The Wirecutter, an online publication which tests a wide variety of products said they no longer recommend Epson printers because of print head problems. My only option was to take or send my printer to an Epson service center which would have cost me almost as much as new printer. My solution was to "vote with my feet" and purchase a new printer from another manufacturer.

I don't know the history of your printer, but, the problem you describe has happened to me after using non-Epson inks. It is head clogging. My hard won experience with printers is that Epson printers are at the top of their respective classes, but, they don't like non-Epson inks.

Not many printers are fully compatible with non-oem inks. I believe, that if you're going to print in-house, the printer, ink and paper are equally important. If not, you're just better off getting the printing done for you. If you want to be able to have a print now, or if you want total control over your prints, purchasing a printer and printing at home is for you. If you plan to use a hodge-podge of paper and ink to "save money", just use a place like Costco. Best of luck.

After going through several cleaning cycles, my text was still very light, so I removed and cleaned the print head - first time in eight years. That solved the problem.

Just think of the ink you could have saved.

lines like that usually are the result of
clogged or defective print nozzle
wrong or defective ink tank(s)
Some things to consider
Has the printer been unused for some time(ink tanks and jets dry out when left sitting too long
is it evident in just one color or all of them
have you tried a cleaning cycle or two? you will use up a lot of ink, but that's the way it goes.
did the problems just start? If you approach the issue logically, you can resolve this quickly and easily. goodluck
