All these cactus are located around my back yard incase you need to know. I thought it interesting so I've prepared a little photo essay on the subject.
1. These guys don't grow "arms" until they're around 50 or so years old so, this guy is probably about 55. His skin looks good too.
2. This guy is some years older. His skin shows the abuse and his arms are disorganized.
3. This fellow is perhaps about the same age but is still disorganized.
4. Then we have the last fellow. He's what I would call a perfect saguaro because his arms are well organized, they all point up to the sky and he stands tall, erect and looks like he's watching out for all of us in the neighborhood. A fine example.

Great photos and fascinating commentary. I enjoyed these a lot.
Nice photos and interesting information, jimmya
I can relate to these cacti. Cactus Parable: The older I get the more disorganized I am.
Very nice. I also see that there are some holes from birds in them.

Just about every saguaro has bird's nests, usually a few. Sometimes the birds get over whelmed and create such a problem that an arm falls with a loud "thud!" Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful shots and descriptions, Jimmy!
