Is humor sarcastic? Isn't "sarcastic" always meant cutting-biting-critical-demeaning but
Humor, though, things like funny, "dry", droll, witty, etc. Ha, no wonder I get misunderstood !

It's all about the approach. I'm proposing a new thread: Humorous sarcasm VS. Sarcastic Humor, AKA, How to survive UHH membership.

According to this 'don't use Lightroom your not a photographer' statement means every shutter clicker who ever lived in history could not be a photographer was invented. Whew, that's a reach.

My view is that Lightroom proponents today would have been darkroom proponents in the age of film. Even apart from the sarcasm/humor of the post you were responding to, once you cast the statement in those terms, you'll find members here who openly or quietly would agree with that statement even though Garry Winogrand is known to have spent as little time as possible in a darkroom.

Taken in context, I believe that statement was very cutting/biting in a low-key sort of way. Discussions involving PP bring all kinds of hostility and/or judgement way too close to the surface.

Lightroom is for wimps who can't find stuff but that's for another thread.

And I'm sure you'll be the one to start it.

There are much worse ways for him to "cause trouble".

If you are referring to my comment, when I said, "You don't use Lightroom? What's the matter with you? I guess you're not a real photographer.", I meant it as a sarcastic example of the excessive hyperbole some posters express in their comments. I also meant it to be exactly how you defined sarcasm, and in case you were wondering, it wasn't intended as a rebuff to BigDaddy, but to the inflexible zealots among us.

Uh, no, wasn't referring to you at all, or even anyone else in particular. Just looking for generally used definitions.
It's odd that when referring to one idea or one person 3 others often assume it applies to them. Now in making THAT
statement I know 3 others will go "paranoid",...... I don't mean you though! Really I don't!

It wasn't a big stretch on my part thinking you might be referring to me since I mentioned I was being sarcastic in the post just before yours. The proximity seemed more than a coincidence.

Such things happen more frequently than we realize since we tend to think it only happens to us? Looks as
if we have identified something here. Use of the word "you", used as meaning everyone, as
distinguished from avoiding any misunderstanding in the south by saying "you-all". We might have to get
very formal and proper and start saying "one" instead of "you"?

I believe we're overthinking this. Time to move on.

Agree with you totally, but BTW, if you do (or don't) shoot RAW you might be an "idiot"

Absolutely agree entirely, or absolutely disagree entirely. I don't want you to think I'm inflexible, or do I?
