Large purple flower.

Lumix FZ-1000.
I spent an hour checking out links on purple flowers & I'm danged if I can find this one anywhere. The flowers are about 3" (75mm) across & they grow on a spindly looking shrub/bush about 8' high. Downloading is recommended.

Some great catches, Earl.
Beautiful Earl! Love the color.
Nice photos but I don't know what they are either, Earl.

Hallelujah!!! I just found out what it is after more Google searching. It is a Glory Bush--Monrovia. Here is a screenpic from Google.
EDIT.....I have just found more information on line that clearly identifies it as Tibouchina (I think someone-maybe Donna?-suggested Tibouchina several weeks ago), so now I am confused, lol. Maybe it has different names in different countries, or maybe Monrovia comes under the general Tibouchina umbrella?
Earl.

Earl.
Earl, I've told you oodles of times. It's a Tibouchina or Princess Flower. We've got one growing in the back yard. Lovely shots!

Just looked it up, and it's also called a Glory Bush. Never heard it called that before.
Great close shots! The detail is super. You and Donna are both right - just different names for the same bush! I always knew it as Tibouchina but apparently it has several names.

Lol. See my edit. Seems like it is known by both names, so problem is solved & I am not confused anymore, lol. Apparently Glory Bush is the common name over here. It is strange though, that the word 'Tibouchina' is not used even once in the attachment--weird.
Some elaborate stamens. Pretty flower.

Donna is correct Earl. But I think you might be too, it could be different names in different places. You know "different strokes for different folks" LoL
We had two in our yard on our 5 acre property years ago. One was a bush and the other a tree. I was told one was a Tibouchina and the other was a Lassinadra. Can't remember which was which, but the flowers were identical.
Google Lassiandra and you will see.
Whatever it is, you've captured it beautifully, Earl. Nice details.
