Do any of you use external camera monitors? I'm mean the kind that fit on the hot show, generally 7". They look like they would be very useful under certain circumstances. Several on Amazon, from $139 - $249.

Don't forget the battery pack to power them. Lots of listings in video DSLR accessories.

Yes, I have used an Android Tablet, Tablet and My Laptop as a Monitor with Helicon Remote. (This software is for focus stacking but will take a single picture). It works rather well. When used Camera is on a tripod. Like all electronic displays bright light is a problem. A black cloth over the head can help. It is nice when taking photos close to the ground.

Wouldn't it be easier to use one of these:

They are, especially off-camera (either cordless, or with a cord)!

The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!

I've used both my Andrid tablet & phone at different times by way of an app called 'DSLR Controller'. It works either wireless or over usb cables.
