Simply re-res (reduce dots per inch) to 120 as the monitor can not display any more than that anyway and resize to no more than 5X7 inches for each photo and I'll bet you can send 6 to 8 images per email.... but resize and re-res a COPY of each photo. good luck!

Lightroom reduces to any size you want. DPI refers to printing.

You might try zipping them into a zipped file and sending that.

JPEG's don't zip/reduce the total file size much. They will put several photos in one file, but the receiver must know how to Unzip when received...!

Don't do any of this. Just change the pixel dimensions to something like 1200 pixels on the long end and you'll be fine.

I agree about the myth, at best it is an old technology thing, even then didn't account for screen size.

I just responded to 72 pixels, thinking 'total pixels' for the image!

Thanks mborn, I've seen advice re Dropbox when I googled. But I'm curious as to why nobody seems to like file compression as a technique.

A jpeg file is already compressed, that's what a jpeg is, a compressed file. Compressing it again doesn't do much of anything.

Ppi and dpi (resolution) don't come into play for web and emailing purposes. They are used for printing only. Ppi and dpi are ways to indicate depth, the third dimension of a file. The density of pixels needed for printing purposes. This depth is not needed for the web.

For web viewing and emailing all you need to set are "Pixel Dimensions", length x width of your image in pixels, in other words, two dimensions period. You don't have to be concerned about file size, etc. You should save it in the sRGB color space as a JPG or PNG. You are good to go with whatever file size results.

Look in your Image Size dialog and fit your image within 1024px x 768px. This is the email standard and it will fill the screen with your image on almost all receiving monitors without the recipient having to scroll to see it all. Try sending yourself an image this way to see it.

On of the nicest features of Lr CC is that it makes doing things like this sooooo easy! Best of luck.

Actually, I use Photoshop to do this and I have made an Action that will take my huge layered .PSD images and create a JPEG to these dimensions, change the color space, and put a thin white stroke around the image, save it to my desktop, and close the original file without harming it all with a one button click. I then attach the resulting JPEG found on my desktop to my email or this forum.

Dropbox is easy and fast. It is free. Just move the pics to your box in a special photo folder (there are EZ setup instructions) and send a quick link to whomever. They can share the link since the photos will be public. Dropbox is also good for storing and private files that you NEVER want to loose. I have copies of my drivers license and passport there just in case things get lost or destroyed while traveling.

There is a white stroke there but it's on the outside of the black stroke and doesn't show up against this bkg.

I'm very frustrated. I had a nice day yesterday with my wife, daughter and grandson at Happy Hollow Petting Zoo and Park in San Jose CA. I edited and posted 8 photos to my Facebook page no problem.......very happy with the results......but when I try and email a few pics I am unable because the file size is too large. I can email one pic at a time but would like to attach at least 3 or 4, or even more. I was using my Nikon D7100 and shooting in JPG FINE>, and edited in Elements 15.......I would so appreciate some help

Try sending them as an attachment. They should go a lot easier. Or get Drop box ,all information how to do it is on the site and free of charge to a certain point.
