You already have the most important thing - an eye for composition. For me the only weak one is #2. The tree stump seems to be half way between a main subject and an intrusion. Perhaps using the trunk as a leading line might have worked better.

Nice work Cindy. Keep it up. Next time use the download function, it helps to really show the detail in your pictures. Thanks/George

You have great talent, do not let anyone influence your insights into what you think looks good. Geo Schaub said that once you learn the basics of comp. that you loose some/all creative imagination; balance your knowledge with the rules of composition and you will be a lot happier with your results. There are always exceptions to the rules!(does that make sense to you?)

Them be some vurry good shots; keep up the great work!

Ok here it goes....I am diving in. Here are a couple of pics from my Nikon D5300, remember it's my first dslr and just got it in Nov...so still learning. All comments welcome.
1. Taken while out snowmobiling
2. Taken while on a hike in Glacier National Park - Fish Creek Drainage at Lake McDonald
3. My driveway on a cold winter night

I am also learning Lightroom - so any post editing suggestions welcome!

I think all of your shots are really wonderful. Keep on posting!

You are off to a very good start Cindy. You might want to check the "store original" box when posting an image. It gives us a much better look.

I love #2, great composition. #3 is bit under exposed as I have done on snow and sand. Google the "sunny 16 rule" to help with snow photos, it's great. Keep the photos coming, great work.

Good point! For sand and snow add some exposure compensation.

Thanks for the advice and I will check out the Sunny 16 rule -- but for #3 under exposed...since this was taken on a full moon night....would I still want to increase the exposure? Wouldn't that make it more like it was taken during the day?
