Judging from the apparent corrosion on the long rods, my guess is some sort of liquid level sensor - something happens when the fluid (water?) drops below the end of the rods. Alarm? Alert of some sort, refill valve operates????
If you had the AC serviced, I'd just assume it was junk left over from that.
Well that looks like the head of a clay/terra cotta cat head with the right ear broken off. Those two holes are the eyes. Maybe the electronics created a sound of some kind..or lit up the eyes JMHO 😁
