IF you use the "presets", which is your preferred preset for most of your HDR work. If you would articulate why-- please do.THANK YOU.

I often use the "Deep" preset. I get colors that pop and deeper shadows without getting the overcooked HDR effect.

Most of the time I use "Balanced" it comes the closest to what my eye sees and seems like a good place to start. My idea of how HDR should be used is to extend the range of the sensor, not to create an unrealistic image.

You have SO much more control if you learn the sliders. "Contrast Optimizer" is my preferred tonemapper, but I do use the older "Details Enhancer" sometimes.

Thanks to all who replied. I have used the software for awhile although not regularly. I generally try to limit my use for scenes that might benefit from "stretching the dynamic range". I will explore the sliders some more.

I use PhotoMatix's "Fusion/Natural" for all my real estate photos (not tone mapping). Occasionally I combine a second layer with "Painterly 2" to blend in 30% to 40% under the Fusion layer to bring out the color saturation -- especially on dark and gray days.
