I was inspired by other talented UHH members to try my chances with Hummingbirds.
Thank you for the inspiration

Excellent for your first attempt. I wish mine were as good and I shot a lot last summer. Would you share your camera settings?

They are so hard (for me) to photograph. Well done.

Great first attempt, it only gets better. I too started with shots at a feeder but soon we were planting the plants that would attract the birds in a spot in our yard that would give us the best light on the hummers. Have fun!

Thank you. Took a few days of patience for the hummer to come back while I was in the yard.

what camera? And you took it zoomed in at 200? Nice first try. Mine was no where near that.

Canon 5d Mark III. Yes zoomed in at 200
As you may guess I took several shots that first day. This was the keeper
I was seated 10 feet away and made adjustments as the clouds came and gone.
F/6.3 with the back lit overcast sun did the trick.

I have photos with 3 birds buzzing around the feeder but are too blurred. I think I have finally figured out how to use the auto focusing on the 7D mark 11 and one of these days I'll try it out.

Can I suggest manual focus. At F 6.3 I knew if the birds were in alignment with the feeder I would have a successful shot. I focused on the yellow feeder opening.
Also used a tripod.
Also used a remote "clicker" to take the shots. Very little movement by me allowed the birds to eat and return several times without being startled.
Just a thought.
