RG and others, thanks for bringing up the greens in the uniforms. I can see it in the original, and wasn't sure if I should remove it or not. The original almost looks like it was "colorized" at some point, so I'm not sure if that was done then, or if it was some kid with a marker at one time trying to color it in, or what exactly.
I will tone it down. (majority rules)
I agree about too much magenta. It was even worse when printing. THAT part must have something to do with the color depth of the scan, because the original didn't have that much red. Thanks for the edit RG, and the suggestions from others.
Lastly, on the hands.... I can't tell you how much I tried to make them more realistic with the wrinkles around the knuckles. That's a bit beyond my ability to make them look good. The print will be between 5x7 and 8x10, but I really hate that the knuckles are basically GONE, and just don't look good.
Any expert knuckle painters out there? I'd greatly appreciate some help.
If you brought the background from black to a medium grey it would give you a bit of backlight and separation from the hair while still looking realistic, IMHO.

I tried a few colors. The black is sampled from the original.
What I ran into was that they looked more cut out with the various grays.
I' thinking about taking a shot I have from the botanical gardens, darken it up, add some blur, and see if I can get it right. A solid color is too unforgiving with the rather small original that was scanned.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Sounds like I need more work on it.
I appreciate input from everyone. It's how I get better.

I find the reflection on the sunglasses very annoying , that could easily be tones down a bit, all in all, very good work.
