When I came back to San Diego in 1979, having lived for 3 years in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii ....... it was 63 degrees. I had on my winter coat and was shivering. I guess there really is such a thing as acclimatization. In Michigan, growing up, that was short sleeves and no jacket weahter.
I used to tell my students that if they went to Disneyland during winter break they could tell the Californians from the tourists. Californians were dressed like eskimo hunters and the tourists from Minnesota and Germany were in shorts, T-shirts and sandals and complaining about how warm it was.
