Looks like a wonderful time! I was there years ago and stayed at the Grand Hotel Union. Is it still there?

Saturday was great, especially after a week of unremitting clouds and rain. The Hotel is still there and busy.

Thank you for you kind comment. I never liked looking into the shoebox full of unlabeled photos and wondering what was behind them. Love this country. Great customs and food.

Yesterday was the carnival parade in LJ. Town was very crowded. Many people were dressed in costumes, mostly simple easy to put together ones leaning heavily on wigs, dark glasses, and pirate clothing. Much less cross-dressing than is typical of Halloween in the U.S. but, (sigh) there was one man dressed like a nun, a compulsion I will never understand. The weather was superb and everyone in a good mood. I was here last year for the Carnival but was much better prepared this year and wandered all over the place with the camera. Below is a sampling of what turned out to be a long and productive photo walk.

Thanks for the feedback. I was here last year for this but it caught me by surprise as I'd simply gone into the center on Saturday AM with the camera. This time I knew it was coming, know the city a lot better, and was prepared. If I come back next year I definitely stay until carnival. And take both camera bodies this time.

For a small country Slovenia has more photo opportunities per square km than most places.

Interesting street photos, is this their version of Mardi Gras as in New Orleans?

Thanks iDoc. Festive is the only word to describe carnival. A bit crazy but festive crazy.

Yes, this is the equivalent of Mardi Gras. The krof (what Poles call paczki) are reminisicent of beignets in New Orleans. There is much less public drunkenness and questionably appropriate behavior.
